Fun at the Philly Academy of Natural Sciences Dinosaur Hall

T-Rex Skeleton at Academy of Natural Sciences Dinosaur HallAs I have mentioned in previous posts, my son Harrison absolutely loves Dinosaurs.  It’s all he cares about right now.  So, for his 5th birthday we surprised him.  We packed him and his brother up in the car, drove to Philly and took him to the Academy of Natural Sciences.  He wasn’t sure where we were at until we actually went inside the building and saw the giant T-Rex skeleton that I have pictured here.  He was out of his mind excited.  I had wanted to capture that moment on video but he was just too excited and I couldn’t react quickly enough.

After we were there for awhile, I was able to gather everyone together and shoot some video.  You can check that out below.  The boys got to pretend to be paleontologists and dig for bones, we sat in a short demonstration of how they clean and process the bones and got to touch the toe of a dinosaur from the late cretaceous period.  It was from a brand new dinosaur that they found in Argentina and hadn’t yet given it a name.  It was a giant Sauropod.

It’s a trip I will never forget and I hope my boys felt the same way.

About GiantRobo

GiantRobo (aka: Brian and Dad) is father of two wonderful boys and husband to an amazing wife. I have been pulled into the world of dinosaurs by my oldest son who just turned 5 and is is completely and totally obsessed with all things dinosaur. When I am not working or blogging, I can usually be found chasing the boys and pretending to be whatever dinosaur Harry has asked me to be at that moment.
